
One of the most unique opportunities when traveling is to meet someone abroad who you can really connect with. But when you’re antisocial, your automatic instinct might be to clam up and internalize. Instead of taking advantage of the fact that you’re out and about in the world in a new place with new people, you might find yourself hiding behind camera lenses and books. Because I tend to gravitates towards the latter, I didn’t actually branch out and meet new people until the very end of my trip on the last day in Zurich. Because she was shy as well, we had a lot in common, but it also means that we had endless opportunities to bond and missed most of them.
Pro-Tip: Don’t wait until the last day to push yourself outside of your comfort zone. Let yourself recover from jetlag, but by Day 3 you should be putting yourself out there.
