About

Postcards for Pessimists was created by graphic designer, hand-letterer, and pessimistic globe-trotter, Jenn Rothschild, in order to share with the world the not so glamorous side to travel. In this day and age, social media is saturated with carefully curated content. All that is shown in a shared travel post is a beautiful vista; what is not shown is the 18 hour flight delay, the heat exhaustion, the motion sickness, the sunburn, the lost luggage, the stolen property, and the sprained ankle that all went into the very same experience.

The goal of Postcards for Pessimists is to bring a dose of reality to travel posts and to share these misadventures so that others won’t feel so alone in their travel fails or might even learn from these. Content will be posted regularly here, as well as on Instagram. Enjoy!

This project was inspired by and created while enrolled in Passion to Paid, a course taught by Lauren Hom.
