Tikochin, Poland

While I’m sure Poland has its positive qualities, I did not experience many of them. On a trip where you are primarily visiting concentration camps, cemeteries, and memorials, there is little fun to be had. And while the activities were incredibly depressing, the cold was absolutely unbearable. Poland in the wintertime might as well be outer space. As much as you try to bundle up, you are never truly warm or comfortable.

Pro-Tip: Bring along hand and foot warmers. They will thaw your extremities enough so that you can still vaguely feel them.
