While on an Alaskan cruise, my dad had the brilliant idea to go swimming. We rushed back to the boat to change, met back on the dock, took a running start and dove straight in. The second my feet hit the water I realized this was not the typical summer ocean water that I was accustomed to. This was literal glacial water. It was FREEZING, but I went in anyway. Unfortunately, this coldness dragged on even longer when we realized we forgot towels.
Pro Tip: Glacial water is as cold as advertised. If you choose to swim in it, make sure you’ve got blankets or towels ready for when you get out.
